Webflow Logic: the no-code novelty that will make noise

At No-Code Conf 2021, a multi-day conference dedicated to no-code news, Webflow announced several updates to its CMS: the ability to add paying members to your site to build SaaS more easily, a rework of the collaboration system to add more roles, and improved performance (the editor is now up to 15x faster than before and uses 86x less bandwidth). We were spoiled. But among all these updates, one caught our attention: the announcement of Webflow Logic, a brand-new Webflow product that lets you automate elements of your website. Big news for the no-code world.

What is Webflow Logic?

Webflow Logic is Webflow's next product, expected in 2022.

Webflow currently offers several different products: a powerful no-code CMS (site editor), Webflow E-commerce to turn any site into an online sales platform, a website host... All these products share one goal: make site creation easier, faster and more accessible thanks to no-code technology.

It's in this spirit that Webflow announced Webflow Logic, a tool designed to automate tasks and actions on your website. Based on logical reasoning (if/else, yes/no, etc.), Webflow Logic will let you personalize your users' experience.

With this new tool, Webflow will let you build web applications without coding. You'll no longer need to integrate your workflows from Zapier or Make (formerly Integromat) into your no-code sites.

What can you do with Webflow Logic?

We still know little about the features Webflow Logic will offer: the tool is still in development and has just been announced. But through the screenshots shared at the Keynote and on Webflow's official site, we can guess what the tool will enable.

Automate without coding

The first thing that strikes you is that the tool looks very visual. It's Webflow's signature, after all. You'll be able to create automation scenarios without writing a single line of code, just by creating blocks, choosing your triggers and the actions that follow. Webflow Logic keeps what makes the Webflow site editor charming, and that's excellent news for the future of no-code.

Create logical scenarios with conditions

Webflow Logic will let you build logical scenarios: starting from a trigger or an event, a sequence of actions will run based on defined conditions.

An example was shared during the Keynote. Today, you can create a form on Webflow to ask visitors for information. That information is then sent either to your CRM or via email to be processed and collected.

With Webflow Logic, you'll be able to add conditions to pre-process the leads you collect. By adding, for example, a "Company size" field, you can separate leads coming from SMBs and those from larger companies. A significant time saving when processing prospects.

Once this processing is done, Webflow Logic lets you add additional blocks, such as sending a thank-you email to the person who contacted you.

The logical scenarios you build can be as complex as you want: Webflow Logic lets you add many conditions and blocks to handle every scenario you care about.

Build web applications

This is another big update and a great strength of Webflow Logic. To build web applications in Webflow, you historically had to connect third-party tools like Bubble, Make (formerly Integromat) or Airtable, or call a developer to code them.

With Webflow Logic, you can build your own applications while staying in the Webflow ecosystem.

Here again, an example was shared at the Keynote: a job board site. An employer wants to post their job on your site. They fill in the form with all the necessary information.

Using Webflow Logic, you can make this employer automatically receive a confirmation email, and their job post gets added to your site without any action needed from you. Based on the data filled in by your user, your scenario can identify which job listing it is and add it in the right place on the website.

Better yet: you can also develop this application to make it more complete for job seekers. Thanks to the info in the listings, you can create a filter system that lets visitors refine their search by their criteria.

In a few clicks, Webflow Logic lets you create highly performant web applications. No more need to connect third-party tools.

Build a SaaS solution

Webflow Logic wasn't the only new product announcement from Webflow. Webflow Membership will be a new feature that lets you add paying users to your site to access your services.

Combining these two products, you'll be able to build powerful SaaS solutions, without writing a single line of code.

To develop this example, Webflow reused its job board app, adding a new condition: if the posted job offers a salary above a certain amount, then it appears in a premium listings section. To access it, a user must pay a subscription to your service. In a few clicks, Webflow just built the backbone of a new business.

Thanks to the new Webflow additions, Logic & Membership, you'll be able to build robust, reliable solutions without writing a single line of code.

Scroll, your Webflow agency

You get the picture: Webflow Logic is a powerful addition to Webflow's already complete ecosystem. Of course, it's still too early to say if the tool will really perform: but knowing the quality of Webflow's usual services, we have no doubt it will. Over time, new features will be added, making it more and more complete, eventually rivaling other market solutions.
