Did you know that no-code can help you launch your start-up? Scroll explains everything.

The time has come: you want to create your start-up and need a website or an app. Not sure where to start? Hiring a developer is no longer a necessity! No-code will allow you to develop a website or app much more easily. The Scroll Agency helps you understand what no-code is and explains how it can benefit your start-up launch.

What is no-code?

No-code is defined as the opposite of code. When you want to develop a website or app to launch your start-up, you might think you need to master coding, and at least one programming language. However, today’s no-code approach means not using any computer code at all. Its purpose is to enable anyone wanting to create a website, app, or simply a landing page to complete their project without coding or hiring a developer, all in record time.

No-code owes its success to its power, allowing you to rapidly develop complex websites and apps without writing a single line of code.

Just like with websites and apps, no-code can automate internal business processes such as data management, customer relations, and more.

The power of no-code relies on several key principles, with these three being the main ones:

- Automatic code generation

- Using templates for website and app design

- Using visual tools with a pre-programmed graphical interface

Thanks to skills beyond programming and dedicated tools, no-code enables you to create or modify a website, app, or automate a process. With no-code, a user can design and animate a website tailored to their needs, all without adding a single line of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or any other programming language.

What are the benefits of no-code for launching your start-up?

As you may have guessed, no-code brings several advantages to your start-up’s creation. It can save time, reduce costs, or even improve team cohesion. Discover the main benefits no-code offers for launching your start-up.

As a start-up, save time with no-code

With no-code, you can save time on project development. Depending on your needs and the tools you use, the time required will vary. In most cases, no-code tools allow for faster development than traditional coding, provided the project isn’t too complex or the developer has the required skills. To save time and avoid the learning curve for each tool, you can outsource your project by working with specialized no-code agencies like Scroll, for example.

No-code costs your start-up less

Using no-code for your start-up launch can lead to significant savings. Hiring a developer to build a website or app is more expensive due to their scarcity in the market. No-code mainly lowers the upfront bill: the initial budget is smaller, in exchange for a subscription that runs for as long as the product lives.

That shift in cost is worth quantifying, because it is paid every month. A Webflow site needs the plan that includes the CMS: since the May 2026 pricing overhaul, which merged the former CMS and Business plans, that is the Premium plan, at around $25 per month on annual billing, plus a workspace plan as soon as several people edit the site. A Bubble app starts at $29 per month on the Starter plan, the first one that allows a custom domain, and consumption is billed in workload units, at $0.30 per 1,000 units beyond the included allowance. Over three years, the subscription total compares with a custom build; what no-code actually buys is time to market and the freedom to change your mind, not free software.

No-code is always up to date

Most no-code tools you’ll use to launch your start-up are current and regularly updated by their creators. The advantage of these tools is that they always allow you to create trendy projects with up-to-date features and design.

With no-code, improve team cohesion within your start-up

Start-up teams are often very small, making team cohesion crucial. Since no-code is highly accessible, it allows all team members to contribute to website or app development. The team can then share common goals. No-code strengthens collaboration among start-up members and, as a result, team cohesion.

Which no-code tools should you use to launch your start-up?

If you’re unsure where to start with no-code, we’ve compiled several tools that could be useful for launching your start-up.

Webflow

Webflow is an application that lets you create a website without writing a single line of code. It offers different plans suitable for start-ups, SMEs, and small businesses alike. You can build showcase sites or e-commerce platforms, with a wide range of templates to get you started.

Like many no-code tools, Webflow relies on a drag-and-drop principle via a highly visual graphical interface.

If you weren’t familiar with Webflow before and, like many people, you were using the WordPress CMS, or planning to, start by reading our Webflow vs WordPress comparison.

At Scroll, we’re no-code specialists, and Webflow is one of our primary tools. It’s one of our favorites, we even built the Scroll website with it! We use it daily to create and improve our clients’ websites. That’s why we’ve developed a unique offering to design websites faster and more flexibly for our clients: the Webflow agency.

Bubble

Bubble is a frequently discussed no-code tool because of its power. Like many other no-code tools, Bubble allows you to create apps using drag-and-drop. Its standout feature is the ability to add logic within pages, enabling the creation of more powerful and complex applications. With Bubble’s “workflows,” you can add interactivity to pages, animate buttons, or create authentication systems. Since workflows are highly flexible, you can build very different apps from one another.

Bubble is also one of our main tools at Scroll. We use it daily in many projects. That’s why, just like with Webflow, we’ve set up the Bubble agency. Thanks to our expert knowledge of Bubble and our expertise in this field, we support our clients on a wide range of projects. We leverage Bubble’s power to deliver unique, custom-built apps in record time.

Adalo

If you’re worried about navigating complex interfaces, turn to Adalo. Adalo is a no-code tool for building complete and powerful web and mobile apps without coding. Its standout feature is its focus on simplifying the interface and functionality to make it truly easy to use.

Compared to Bubble, Adalo offers fewer complex features for app creation but is easier to get started with.

Adalo provides a large number of templates to help you get started, even if you’re not creatively inclined. It also has a marketplace where users can share their own creations.

The choice between these tools depends less on the template catalogue than on the scope to cover, and scope is settled by testing, not by debate. The Nielsen Norman Group points out that five users reveal most of an interface’s usability problems, and that “zero users gives zero insights”. Five sessions on a mockup before picking the platform save you from paying for features nobody needs, then getting stuck on the one that is missing.

Examples of start-ups launched with no-code

As no-code has grown in popularity in recent years, many start-ups have successfully launched thanks to it! Here are three examples of start-ups that came to life with no-code.

The Scroll Agency

The Scroll website, developed on Webflow

That’s right, we launched with no-code too! Our entire website is built on Webflow.

At Scroll, we primarily work with start-ups, SMEs, and small businesses to help them with all their digital challenges: website creation, web apps, or custom tools. We use no-code technologies to deliver complete, truly tailored solutions.

Most of our clients want to create a new website, a new brand identity, or improve their SEO. Some also need to develop specific tools that don’t exist on the market.

Today, no-code allows us to develop any type of project faster, more easily, and with greater personalization than most of our competitors.

Comet

Comet is a platform that connects freelancers with businesses. Unlike traditional freelance platforms, it matches companies with freelance profiles that align as closely as possible with the project and the company’s values to create the perfect “match.”

Businesses present their project to Comet, and within 48 hours, Comet provides a carefully selected panel of freelancers.

Comet took off with no-code, its entire website was developed using Bubble. The company then raised several million euros and moved to conventional development, a common trajectory as volume and integration needs grow.

Lambda School

Lambda School is an online education platform built around a unique model. Students don’t pay tuition upfront but instead commit to paying 17% of their income for two years after landing their first job.

To successfully launch the start-up, Lambda School used numerous no-code tools, enabling more people to participate in automation and project design. To create, develop, and evolve the platform, it used Typeform, Webflow, Airtable, Zapier, Calendly, Retool, Salesforce, and more!

This example needs an update, and an important one. Lambda School has been called BloomTech since 2021, and the US Consumer Financial Protection Bureau took action against the company and its CEO on 17 April 2024: the agency found that the income share agreements presented to students as “not loans” were in fact loans, carrying an average finance charge of about $4,000, and that job-placement rates advertised as high as 86% were internally closer to 50%, in some cases as low as 30%. BloomTech was permanently banned from consumer-lending activity, with penalties of $64,235 for the company and $100,000 for its CEO. The useful lesson for a start-up is not about the tools: fast growth built on unverifiable promises eventually comes due, whatever the stack.
